A basic car safety check for all

The quickest car safety check ever

H aving your own company car to drive on business trips makes you look and feel more professional, as well as ensuring you’re comfortable and relaxed on the way to meetings.

But as this video featuring journalist Tim Gibson points out, you – the driver – are responsible for making sure your vehicle is roadworthy and safe before you set off.

Did you know, for example, that if you’re driving with tread below the legal limit or faulty headlights, the police will fine you personally, rather than your company? So it’s worth carrying out a few checks.

Although not an exhaustive checklist – a thorough inspection is always preferable – Tim is shown here doing the basics on his V60 – tyres, headlights and windscreen wipers  – before heading off for a work trip, safe in the knowledge that both he and his car are ready to hit the road.
