Never shy of finding yet another profitable chip off the 911 block, Porsche has added further complexity to its sprawling portfolio. It’s called the Carrera T, the intention being to rediscover some of raw, driver-focused thrills usually reserved for the GT3 halo models. In short the T adds a fourth option to an existing trio of rear-wheel drive Carrera models ranging from £77,891 for the ‘base’ version to £95,795 for the GTS.
Rather than attempt a forensic examination of the spec sheet it’s better to ask who this new Carrera T is for. Maybe you’re looking at the current 911 range and find it just a little too grown-up. Maybe you wanted an R, a GT3 or the latter’s new wingless Touring version but didn’t make it onto the VIP list at your local Porsche dealership. Or maybe you just want a little taste of old-school 911s otherwise smothered by increasing technology.
