Ocean's 8 trailer: Sandra Bullock recruits a gang of A-list con women

Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett lead an incredibly well-dressed gang of criminals in Ocean's 8

While it's been met with some of the same generic YouTube comments section cesspit vitriol that trailed the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters last year, the female-fronted revival of the Ocean's Eleven franchise looks set to bulldoze its way into cinemas with much more positive word of mouth, with Sandra Bullock leading an irresistibly glitzy cast of A-listers.

The just-released trailer sees Bullock's con woman Debbie Ocean, sister of George Clooney's Danny, released from prison but immediately launching herself into yet another heist.

This one requires an eight-strong team, with Debbie roping in two former allies (old friend Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson's bored housewife), a cyber criminal (Rihanna), a down-on-her-luck fashion designer (Helena Bonham Carter), a jewellery expert (Mindy Kaling) and a street scammer (Awkwafina).

The scheme: to steal a $150 million necklace worn around the neck of a famous socialite (Anne Hathaway) at the annual fashion extravaganza that is the Met Gala – though Hathaway's character appears to be in on the plot herself.

Richard Armitage, James Corden, Damian Lewis and Dakota Fanning also pop up, with a host of stars including Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Kim Kardashian, Zayn Malik, Serena Williams and Katie Holmes cameoing as attendees of the Met Gala.

Ocean's 8, which is rumoured to feature minor appearances from several stars from the original Ocean's films, hits cinemas June 22, 2018.
