Sherlock's Martin Freeman goes head-to-head with the undead in the first full trailer for Ghost Stories, a new horror anthology film which tells three tales of things that go bump in the night.

Andy Nyman plays Professor Goodman, a cynical academic investigating three unsolved cases of hauntings, alongside a supporting cast including The Fast Show's Paul Whitehouse, Black Mirror's Alex Lawther and Evening Standard Theatre Award-winner Jake Davies. Freeman's character is involved in one of the cases.

The film is directed by League of Gentlemen writer Jeremy Dyson and magician Nyman, and adapted from their own acclaimed stage-play of the same name. Reviewing the London production in 2010, Telegraph theatre critic Charles Spencer praised it as "ingenious, creepy and horribly enjoyable".

In the new trailer, released today, Goodman meets his estranged mentor Charles Cameron (Whitehouse), a former TV parapsychologist who presents his protégé with a file on three seemingly inexplicable cases.

Ghost Stories impressed the critics when it premiered at the 2017 London Film Festival, and is now slated to hit cinemas nationwide this April, with an appropriately spooky release date: Friday the 13th.
